Join us for an educational avalanche awarness presentation. Learn the basics of where to go, when to go and what to bring. This program features a new video with interviews from the snow sports pros including Mikaela Shiffrin, Jimmy Chin, Travis Rice, Jeremy Jones, and Chris Davenport. Presented by Craig Gordon and Paul Diegel from the Utah Avalanche Center. Presentation followed by an open house with food & drinks at Bear Valley Real Estate. Stay to see NDF being honored in the Cathedral Lounge at 7:00pm by Winter Sports History Night.

February 7, 2015 - Avalanche Awareness Summit, Bear Valley Resort

A free avalanche awareness program was presented to the Bear Valley Race Teams for the first time. "Know Before You Go" was presented by Paul Henrickson, an avalanche educator from Utah Avalanche Center. The "Know Before You Go" avalanche awareness program was developed for young adults in 2004. The one-hour program includes a 15-minute video and slide show presentation. The program has directly reached over 175,000 students in Utah to date and has spread around North America.

A Free Avalanche Awareness Program - Know Before You Go was presented by its founder Craig Gordon, an avalanche educator from Utah Avalanche Center. NDF is very thankful to our sponsors for help in hosting this event: Karl Birkeland, The Director of the National Avalanche Center and to Craig Gordon from Utah Avalanche Center. Nickolay Dodov Foundations goal is to implement the Know Before You Go Program to middle and high schools in California and junior ski and snowboard teams. Craig Gordon developed the Know Before You Go avalanche awareness program for young adults in 2004. The one-hour program includes a 15-minute video and slide show presentation. The program has directly reached over 175,000 students in Utah to date and has spread around North America. Craig’s legendary enthusiasm and communication skills keep him in high demand on the avalanche lecture circuit and television appearances. Know Before You Go is a free avalanche awareness program.

Mountain Town Throw Down

July 27, 2014 - Moutain Town Throw Down, Bear Valley Ball Field

The Nickolay Dodov Foundation was honored to dedicate out summer event to Denali and Marty Schimdt, who lost their lives in an avalanche climbing K2 on July 27th of 2013. They both are very important to the Bear Valley community and are recognized around the world. We had a wonderful, fun, educational event celebrating and remembering Denali, Marty and Nick. Positive vibes, tasty food, grooving music and good memories. Thank you to everyone for coming, sharing the day with us and supporting the event. Thank you to all of our sponsors, board members, volunteers and friends for making it happen!

The Schmidt Award was given to Bear Valley Resort Ski Patrollers for their efforts providing snow safety awareness to our community through exemplary management and practices.

2nd Annual Dodov Slopestyle PosterMarch 8, 2014 - 2nd Annual Nickoly Dodov Slopestyle, Bear Valley Moutain

We had a beautiful sunny day at Bear Valley Mountain where the 2nd Annual Nickolay Dodov Slopestyle was held. The event was spectacular! Fun day riding, fun day on the mountain remembering Nick!

Thank you to everyone for coming, sharing the day with us and supporting the foundation. So many of Nickolay’s friends came from far away to be with us. We had a lot of competitors signing up. Big jumps, little kids and a few pro caliber riders mixed in. Positive vibes all around! DJ Freedom Fighta Sound was spinning awesome music all day long. Sierra Avalanche Center from Tahoe came to help support the Foundation and spread backcountry awareness. A great turn out for the awards ceremony. The crowd was loving the show and the athletes were STOKED! They got cash and great prizes! It was a memorable day and competition. We are already looking forward to next year’s event! January 18-14, 2014 - Snow Sports Safety Week, Bear Valley Mountain

The Nickolay Dodov Foundation had a presents at Bear Valley Mountain’s Winter Explosion for Safety Week. We gave a snow sports safety talk and were busy at our infomation booth.



November 2014 - Safety Presentation, Bear Valley Moutain

The Nickolay Dodov Foundation had a successful presence at Bear Valley Mountain for the Annual Safety Week. The Foundation had a booth with tee-shirts, stickers, books, brochures, hand outs and safety DVD to help educate people about snow sports safety and awareness. The Foundation Safety DVD “To Send It Safe Educate Yourself” futures safety tips from professional snowboarder John Jackson, Bear Valley Mountain's Terrain Park Manager, Mike Schimke and Bear Valley Ski Patrol Director, Mattly Trent. The presenation of the safety video with the lecture by the mountain guide and avalanche educator, Paul Henrickson made a great impact to the audience of kids and parents.

This was our first snow sports safety event. It was a extra special day because it was Nick's Birthday.

We would like to say thank you to everyone who helped us with the Safety Presentation. Thank you to Karl Birkeland, Director of USDA Forest Service National Avalanche Center for his great support and sending an avalanche safety brochures and the “Snow Sense” books. Thank you to Craig Gordon for his support and being open to work together with the Foundation with his program “Know Before You Go”.
